The purpose of a Woodruff cutter is to cut a specific type of keyway known as a Woodruff keyway, which has a semi-circular shape. Woodruff keyways are commonly used in various mechanical applications where a shaft needs to be secured to a rotating component, such as a gear or a pulley. The keyway allows for the precise positioning and secure attachment of the component to the shaft. Here's how the process typically works: The HSS Woodruff cutter is inserted into a milling machine or a specialized Woodruff cutter arbor.
