This finely crafted Luban Block Plane is designed for general purpose smoothing and shaping, paring end grain, cleaning up components by removing thin shavings. With a beauty bronze body, it is traditionally carried in the apron pocket, ready for immediate and frequent use. Compact and easy to use with one hand, it has a 20° T10 bevel up blade bedded at 12°. it has a low ratio type 3 adjuster. It may be used to fine tune joinery or sliding components to achieve the desired fit; or to take tiny threads off sharp corners to strengthen them. Block Plane #101 has 22mm width blade on 30 x 85mm Brass Body at 20° angle. Block Plane #102 has 32mm width blade on 38 x 85mm Brass Body at 12° angle. The Luban Chisel plane has a chisel perched a top a wedge to control the angle, edge in front and a depth adjustment to control the cut. This simple idea has many practical applications from removing excess glue to trimming proud dowels and pocket hole plugs. Chisel Planes come in a small and large version, both featuring stainless steel cast bodies and Mn65 steel blades. They are designed to accomplish tasks that just can not be completed by your typical standard plane. The weight is all in the front end of the plane, this helps to positively register the sole. Without the support in the front the plane handles more like a paring chisel. These planes make for a wonderful clean-up tool, excellent at removing dried glue or flush trimming plugs and joints. It is comfortable to use, similar to a block plane. The Luban Narrow Shoulder Plane is designed for trimming a joint to a perfect fit. The body is cast from the same CR40 alloy steel as the bench planes, it is accurately ground to a fine finish and extremely square.
